FIRST Team 291 - Erie, Pennsylvania

2011

We all knew that Logomotion was going to challenge our skills. We rose to that challenge of building an arm: shoulder, elbow and hand. Contrary to past years, we decided on the drive train very early on. Mechanum wheels were perfect for the game because we didn't need to climb anything. We had some issues with the minibot design -the minibot would fall when it hit the top of the pole- and it would break during a match so we knew we would have to redesign it.

Pittsburgh Regional

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Pittsburg was our first regional of the year and we were a little scared. We were down for a couple matches in the begining but we made up for it in skill. We were in the top ten seeded teams and were feeling pretty good about the competition. We ended up making the new minibot during the regional and it was able to get up the pole in under ONE SECOND!!! When it came to pick teams for the finals, we had out fingers crossed to get picked by a top team. We ended up getting picked by the eighth seeded team. We had a good run but ended up losing in the quarter finals. Better Luck next time.

Buckeye Regional

Cleveland, Ohio

This one was our last chance to get to the World Champioinship. Our bot was down for nearly an entire day with technical difficulties. Even with our bad day, we had the highest scoring match in the competition. We presented Chairman's and missed a perfect score by two points. The finals came up and we were once again picked by the eigth seeded team. And, just like at the Pittsburgh regional, we lost in the quarter finals. So Close!
