The name of the 2009 game is Lunacy! In past years, the games have been played on carpeting, but for the first time ever, the center of the field (called "The Crater") will be low-friction, so that slipping and high-speed collisions will be common. Driving on a low-friction field will be very tricky for our student drivers, and we are excited about this new and interesting challenge. [Above is a diagram of the field] Each robot is given a trailer that must be attached to its end for the duration of the game. The goal is to place 9" Orbit Balls into the opposing team's trailers for points. Also, human players will be on the outside of the field in their allianace's "Outposts" or "Fueling Stations", and they can throw the Orbit Balls onto the field and into the robots' trailers. The team with the highest-scoring amount of Orbit Balls in the opposing robots' trailers wins. [Above is a picture of the Orbit Balls] All of the pictures were obtained from Lunacy's Competition Manual, which can be found here..
