The name of the game --- Breakaway! 2010 poses a familiar driving surface of carpet (unlike last year's game). The field divided is into three areas by nearly foot tall bumps with 45 degree angled slopes which will pose an interesting challenge for robots to climb. The only other way to traverse between the different zones is through a small tunnel located underneath the towers. The main objective this year is to score soccer balls into goals. While only one robot can defend their alliance's goals at a time, the other two robots are free to move between the other zones and score points. This game will therefore require teams to coordinate well in order to have an offensive and defensive game strategy.
[Above is a diagram of the field] Again the Human Player is a critical aspect of the game, for it is the Human Player's job to retrieve and return the soccer balls scored in goals to another Human Player in the middle of the Allience Stations. From there the Human Player will use a special " Trident " to place the soccer balls on a ramp connected to the towers. The ball will then drop in the middle of the field and enter back into play.
[Above are pictures of the Trident, Soccer Balls, and Field Tower] The simplified game rules, description and scoring system so easy "a human can do it" can be found here. All of the pictures were obtained from Breakaway's Competition Manual, which can be found here.
