Pre Season Inconviniences

This year, our team was forced out of our current room. We had to move to a room down the hall. Doesn't sound that bad until you think about all the stuff that we had to take with us. After weeks of manual labor and organizing, we eventually got settled into our new room and ready for the new year.

Kick Off!

For the past several years, kick off was held at the GE learning center. This year, we had to find a new place to hold our kick-off event with the NASA chanel because the Learning Center was under construction. After weeks of trying to figure that out, a parent offered their home to host the Kick-Off. Everything turned out much better than expected and was a great start the the new season! Week 1

After much debate, we finally decided on a drive train. We chose to use 8" omni wheels in the front and 10" pneumatic driven wheels in the back. The bot is being drafted and design strategies are being plotted out. We need to decide if we should use an elevator dumping design or a shooter. Let's math it out!

Week 2

Ok, so this week we split into two design groups to see which of the two designs was more feasible. The group with the shooter design got a head start on the mathing and decided to try to make a prototype. The designing began to become more in depth and the machine shop cut the frame to be welded by a local shop.

Week 3

Looks like we weren't doing a normal square frame. We finished the last few pieces of the frame and sent it to be welded. The design was being finished with minor tweaks and the shop was working on them. The mentors are fantastic to have around because without them we would be having some issues in communication, design and manufacturing. Just want to send out a HUGE THANKS :)

Week 4

It looks like our programmers are having trouble making the kinect work. But I'm sure we'll get it. Our wheels finally came in and are a bit heavier than we expected. We also still have some weird parts being made and the electronics are being put together now.

Week 5

We have the components of the shooter and we are now putting it together. We are working on the weekends too because we are pushing really hard to make the deadline. The wheel boxed are attached and a programmer is making sure the wheels move and such.

Week 6

Crunch time! The LAST parts are being made and assembly is going pretty well. There are still a few adjustments and we should be good. We just got what we have so far to move so this should be really interesting.
